One way we are currently using to try to find suitable deployment points for our drifter technology: We fly a drone over the area to find places where the water disappears below the surface and then fly over the glacier front to identify if any water is coming out and if so where. In this picture we are working quite close to the glacier front trying to see if any water comes out at the front. Not everything might have worked out so far this summer, but it is already quite safe to stay that I’ve learned a lot. And once again I’m quite sure that the water at this glacier works differently then all the models predict. I just need the data to prove it. One day…
