Finally, almost three days without any fieldwork. Definitely too much. Far too much. The wind calmed down and the conditions on the fjord got much better again. Getting out in the evening to continue our sea water sampling program. We couldn’t reach all our stations, as the strong wind of the past three days has pushed all the ice towards the end of the fjord, making it impossible to get closer to Kongsvegen. Water temperatures have been going up quite a bit since Tuesday and Kronebreen is calving heavily. The fjord is turning more and more brown, as the water under the glaciers started to flow. Let’s just hope that our lake hasn’t drained just yet. We hope to find out tomorrow.
