To get to our water sampling location close to the glacier front yesterday, we had to drive through 5 km of dense brush ice. Basically no open water at all. Just ice everywhere, as the glaciers had a couple of days with pretty strong activity. And our sampling seems to give an indication why: Within two days the water temperature in 20 m depth increased by more than 1°C. Gonna be interesting to watch how things develop in the coming weeks.
